The Amy Volume Social Hour

Born of boredom, I decided to talk aimlessly for an hour every Thursday night until physical, IRL social restrictions are eased. I answer questions submitted by YOU via social media or by direct message and we have some fun!

“Where did the ‘Volume’ name come from?”, “Top 3 local breweries?”, “Best memory from Capital Music Hall?” and the question that stumped me most, “What’s your guilty pleasure song that others would find shocking?”

Thursday nights at 8PM EST, I answer all your questions and we shoot the breeze, live.

Here’s our chat from Thursday, April 30th. The 3rd installment.

Birthday Wish for CHEO

Last year I was inspired to dedicate my birthday to kids in treatment at CHEO. I know how long and boring those days can be in isolation - I think we can all relate, too, on some level thanks to this outbreak.

This year, things will be a little different. Yes. I’m still getting older on the 25th. Yes. There are still a lot of children, from babies to teens, receiving life saving (and life altering) treatment in hospital. Many are confined to small, isolated rooms. Some are cut off from their friends and family. Others have to miss out on normal kid stuff because they are sick.

To help make their day a little brighter, I decided to direct any and all attention from myself to them.

Were you going to buy me a card? Were you thinking of taking me out for lunch, dinner, a pint or a coffee? Were you maybe going to gift me a scratch card or cold hard cash (a classic granny move)?

If you answered ‘yes’ or ‘I was thinking of maybe doing that’. First, thank you! Second, please throw that money here:

This is my second year doing this for the kids and, working with the CHEO Foundation, I have made sure 100% of the proceeds go directly to FUN! Art supplies, craft kits, toys, stuffies, movies and other sources of entertainment.

Last year, I was blown away with all the support and gifts given for the kids. This year, I will not be accepting any physical donations in person. I do want to see the faces of those who ARE giving though, so please send me selfies of you with your BIGGEST smiles alongside any messages you wish to give to children in treatment.

This campaign will last the entire month of April. Please help me spread the word for our young friends self-isolating at our wonderful CHEO.

Gwen Stefani Has a "Makeout Playlist"

Last night on The Voice, co-stars Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton joked back and forth about Stefani's "makeout playlist." The convo was kickstarted by a contestant who chose to sing "I Want to Know What Love Is" from Foreigner. If you're a 70s child or 80s baby... that song was definitely on your makeout list, right?

You took a song that’s actually on my makeout playlist.
— Gwen Stefani

Stefani's boyfriend, Blake Shelton, took her admission as an opportunity to say "I told you I knew that song!" The two Voice coaches have been dating since November 2015.

Jennifer Lopez Confirms Relationship With Drake

It's been officially confirmed: J-Lo and Drizzy are making new music together! Lopez opened up about her "working relationship" with Drake saying,

"We are... Well, we did! We did one song together! I don't know if we will do more. We will see!"

Back in December, rumors started flying that something romantic was going on between the two after Drake attended two of J-Lo's Vegas shows (back to back) followed by an intimate evening together... they also added fuel to the fire by sharing this image to their Instagram(s):

While a professional relationship has been confirmed by Lopez, a romantic one has not

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Netflix releases four official teaser posters for the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life out November 25th.

It's been ten years since the original series' run came to an end leaving fans wanting more. Here's what we know about the upcoming revival:

  • Luke and Lorelai are (still) together
  • Rory's career is going through a rough patch
  • Emily and the family are dealing with the loss of Richard
  • Original cast members Alexis Bledel (Rory), Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane), Yanic Truesdale (Michel), Melissa McCarthey (Sookie), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Liza Weil (Paris), Danny Strong (Doyle), Matt Czuchry (Logan), Jared Padalicki (Dean) and Milo Ventimiglia (Jess) will be featured.

Scott Patterson dished on Luke and Lorelai's relationship, saying:

What I can tell you is that we are together and we are figuring out our next move. There are definitely some fireworks there. We did some really intense adult scenes. Since the movies are only an hour and a half long it has way more detail and the writing is deeper and seems longer so it sort of changed. Fans are not expecting this, but it’s more a film now than it is a TV show.”

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will feature four 90 minute installments coming to Netflix Friday, November 25th.
